USD Render Time Procedural | Cloth Curves Toolset

Introducing Our New Custom USD Render-Time Procedural

Developed in collaboration with my talented partner, Pepe Buendia Rubio, this toolset enables deformation, tearing, and attribute transfer directly at render time, completely bypassing the need for caching to disk.

This approach offers significant advantages:

Massive Storage Savings: For example, a 100-frame shot that would typically require over 80 GB can be reduced to just 820 MB for the clothing asset.
Optimized Performance: The render-time performance impact is minimal, averaging only 4–8 seconds per frame, making this workflow incredibly scalable.
Built on USD, this solution is compatible with multiple render engines beyond Karma, such as Arnold, RenderMan, and any Hydra delegate!

We’re thrilled with the possibilities this opens up for procedural workflows, and we hope you find it as exciting as we do!
